Catching up ...

Ive got a ton to catch up on ... the summer has just come and gone!

So, I guess Ill start with the sad....
my poor car now has a huge boo-boo....

Last month I woke up late (seems to be happening a lot lately, must be my great desire to go to work)... so the kids and I are rushing all about getting ready. We leave taking our normal route.. turned the corner and my life slowed down into super slow motion (those that have been in an accident know what I mean) well i see this car zooming out of their drive way, he had backed in to his drive way so he was heading straight for us... I blare the massive horn that I'm sure you could hear for miles and swerved but he still smashed into us... We are all belted in and perfectly okay. He was driving a Volkswagen Passat and we were in the Buick, lets just say it wasn't a fair match :D. His car was smushed in from the driver side head light, he had his bumper stuck between the fender and tire. He is freaking out .. about to cry, hes maybe 19 or 20 years old AND has no insurance. Awesome!

Ive only been in 2 other accidents and both times I acted irrationally (swearing, crying etc.) this time I could tell that I'm a whole different person than when I was when I was in my early adult life... I didn't cry or swear... I think I actually made rational decisions. At least I thought then...

I got the kids information (phone/name/address) and explained that I would have my husband call him and work something out. I agreed to not call the police as they would have impounded his car on the spot and then he would be more worried about getting his car back then compensating us on our repairs. Not to mention that he is just a peon in the Air Force and if his Sargent found out he would face many issues with the military.

Later Ben called him and walked over to his house (that's how close we were to home) and he explained that he understood that he didn't make much in the military but he needed to work something out... basically pay what he could, as soon as he could. He agreed.....And here we are about 1mo later and nada, zilch, zero... I still drive past his house everyday and I'm thinking either his car has been in the shop for the past few weeks or hes moved. We tried to call once and left a message and no response.... And yet another lesson learned this summer in trusting people and bad communication. I'm sad to say next time I dont think I will be so lenient, its too bad that one person can ruin it for all!
