The Mothers Curse … aka (her sweet revenge)

Did your mom ever tell you as a child…. “One day you will have children and they will be five times more rotten than you???”

In the back of your tween/teen age mind you think * Oh that will never happen to me* I will listen to my children and they will be PERFECT!

AND THEN….

You find yourself 29 years old, unable to control your mouthy child(ren)… wishing for your mom to come save you. Take you by the hand and show you or tell you what to do.

I think back to my *rebel* years and think… If maybe I listened more to my mom, did as I was told, went that extra little bit…. I could have learned that THERE IS A REASON FOR BIRTH CONTROL!!! *teehee*

You think that your endless, sleepless nights will end when they are 1 or 2 years old (ha fat chance)!!! They grow older and wiser, then figure out exactly which *buttons* set you off and take advantage of it at every chance they get. My weakness is sleep… I don’t do well without it physically or mentally. So, we have all of our “disagreements” at bedtime.

How many times can you explain to a 10-year old, that its not about FAIR (because life isnt fair) that you have a bedtime *and that time is now!*

Or that you cant have the TV on because its not time to watch TV its time to sleep!

You think by age 10 and the fact that in the last ten years I imagine I have said these same things 5 nights a week, at least 10 times a night, over 10 years… ive done the math that’s about 26,000 times. Will it be the 27.000th time it sets in… or will I have to say the same things another 26,000 times until he moves out… only time will tell ( I guess).

You can try to “listen” and “understand” but there is no reason or logic to the MADNESS, parenting is pure chaos! Just as soon as you think all is well… (translation) ITS ALL ABOUT TO HIT THE FAN!

Ive read all the books, went to counseling,taken the classes, asked for advice from every parent I know… Some just said this too will pass, its just a phase, ect.

I remember when I was having tough times in life (pre-children) my very wise grandma would tell me that “Our Heavenly Father knows your limits and he wont give you anything that he knows you cant handle”

Heres my advice to all new parents… pray every day, ask for forgivness often, and thank god for each day you SURVIVE

AND …

Heres my advice to those not yet parents…. Come borrow mine!! Its better than birth control!


p.s. Sorry to my mom that I was such a brat and made your life such a living hell! Now, call off the dogs PLEASE !!! :D
